Our Artists Draw More Than Just Caricatures

Drawing caricatures for a living is awesome, but sometimes we just want to draw something else. Over the holiday break one of our artists posted some of his non caricature artwork. I thought it would be nice to share it with our customers.

Duck Dynasty Caricatures

Today, while sitting around the office, I found myself caught up in a Duck Dynasty marathon. I soon starting asking myself why I haven't drawn Duck Dynasty caricatures. After all, it is said to be the most popular show on television. So here it is...,,

New Addition To The Family

What a great way to celebrate the arrival of your little angel! This caricature was purchased as a gift for this family. The customer wanted to capture each of their personalities in the caricature. The male subject is a Philosopher, the female subject loves to spend time online, and the baby can't be without their favorite little monkey. This was a really fun caricature to draw! I love when we have a chance to really personalize the caricature gift.

Steve Jobs "The Crazy Ones" Caricature

I have always found this quote from Steve Jobs to be very inspirational. I've been wanting to do this caricature for a long time. Today, I finally put it all together!  Let us know what you think!!

I chose to do this one in a slightly more photo-realistic style.

A Gift For The Bride and Groom

I had a lot of fun doing this caricature from a photo. The mother of the groom contacted us, at Caricature Kingdom, to commission a caricature gift for the bride and groom. She wanted to make sure we included the baby, the dogs, and of course the tattoos into the caricature. The little girl was so adorable. Babies are challenging to capture the likeness, but when you get it right they tell quite a story! The bride and groom loved there new caricature and found a place for it on the wall of their new home!

The Mad Art Of Caricature

I often get contacted by aspiring caricature artists asking where and how they can get started. I have tried to the best of my ability to help them in any way that I can. But the reality is that it is hard to explain how to "see" a caricature. Most of my caricatures that I do for Caricature Kingdom have very mild exaggeration. We have found through trial and error that this is the style that most people prefer to give as a caricature gift. On the flip side, my live drawings are more traditional and highly exaggerated and very fun in the moment. You are exaggerating the person in front of you, rather than giving someone a gift that shows them with a giant protruding nose.

Back to the point..... Tom Richmond, one of my favorite caricature artists recently published a book called "The Mad Art of Caricature". This is an excellent place to start if you are n aspiring caricature artist. Tom explains things in a way that is easy to understand. Even a veteran artist can learn a lot from this book. So grab a copy read it front to back 3-4 times and then practice, practice, practice....... Before long you will be well on your way to becoming a caricature artist!

Reef Diving In Belize

Kelly's sister, Maria, has been diving on coral reefs for over 11 years. She recently was able to talk Kelly into tagging along. They spent 7 days exploring the coral reef off of the coast of Belize. Kelly told her sister that she had never felt so much peace and so in touch with nature. Maria said it was the best dive she had ever been on because she was able to share it with her sister.

Maria contacted Caricature Kingdom asking if our caricature artist could create a momento that would capture her sisters first dive and her "silly" personality. After talking to her she sent us some photos of her sister that our artist could use to create the caricature artwork.

Maria was so thrilled when she received the caricature. She told us that the likeness was "uncanny". She also said that Kelly could not wait to put it on the desk at her office. When she is stressed at work I looking at the caricature can take her back to that special place in time when everything in the world was right.

Caricatures from photos are such a great "just because gift". So the next time you are looking for the perfect gift..... Give a caricature from Caricature Kingdom

Thank You From A Teacher, A Gift To Us

I recently was contacted my a mother looking for the perfect gift for her son's teacher. After talking with her for a while and finding out some of the teachers interests, I as confident that we could make a great gift for his teacher.

I forwarded the details to our caricature artist and he started drawing. After a few days I sent the preview to the boys mom. After looking it over she was very excited and said that she could not wait to send it to school with her son. After receiving the caricature she sent it to school with her 5th grade son. When he returned from school he said that the teacher absolutely loved it. He told his mother that she immediately hung it in her classroom!  Little did I know that we would soon get an email from the teacher. She wanted to personally thank the caricature artist and she commented that it was the best gift she had received in 10 years of teaching.

We were all very excited to make a teacher so happy. Teachers shape each one of our child futures. While we sit home and watch tv in the evenings teachers are grading papers and planning our children's education. Why do they spend their own time and money? Not for the pay, not for the recognition, but instead to make the world a better place by giving our children a chance at a productive and fulfilling life........

Caricature Kingdom would like to take a moment to say thank you to all of the wonderful teachers out there!
